Why This Matters
Bowl4All bridges the gap between accessibility and participation by allowing users to trigger a consistent bowling motion with a simple adaptive switch.
Bowl4All creates a more independent and inclusive bowling experience by giving users a simple way to activate and control the bowling process through accessible switch input.
Our design focuses on independence, usability, portability, and a more meaningful recreational experience.
Bowl4All bridges the gap between accessibility and participation by allowing users to trigger a consistent bowling motion with a simple adaptive switch.
Instead of watching from the sidelines, users are able to actively participate in the game with greater control, confidence, and social engagement.
Built to work in real bowling environments while staying affordable, adaptable, and easy to recreate.
The final model of the enclosure is better compressed and able to fit completely within a bowling bag. It also allows the user a level of customization regarding the LED placement, reactivity, and engravings if applicable. The motor is a powerful-geared stepper motor which is controlled by the PCB.
Users can independently initiate the bowling action using their familiar one-way adaptive switch that plugs into the auxiliary port.
The final PCB uses an Arduino nano as the main microcontroller, pin wire slots for the LEDs, the buttons, and has the correct capacitors and a slot for a 5 amp fuse for user protection.
The final lever design is durable and effective and is able to push bowling balls from six to twelve pounds.
The base of the clips are printed out of ABS while the actual clip is injection moulded from home depot. It is secured with a single screw and hex nut and mounted at an angle that doesn't impede the ball's forward motion.
An LED strip on the side visually indicates battery percentage and has a battery life that lasts over 25 frames using the recommended part.
A better bowling experience means more than just playing the game. It means more agency, more connection, and more inclusion.
Bowl4All gives users a more direct role in the activity, helping them feel active rather than separated from the experience.
The design encourages shared participation and supports stronger social interaction during recreational play.
It transforms bowling into a more accessible activity for individuals with physical disabilities through a simpler and more independent interaction model.
Bowl4All is designed to be practical, inclusive, and approachable for real users and future builders.
